MANILA, Philippines — At least 11 areas in the country recorded heat indices under the “danger” level on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its latest computed heat index as of 5 p.m., Pagasa said that the heat index may range from 42°C to 51°C under this category.

Pagasa warned that heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible while continued exposure to the sun can lead to heat stroke.

The highest heat index was recorded at the Central Bicol State University for Agriculture in Pili, Camarines Sur at 44°C.

Pagasa announced the termination of the northeast monsoon in most parts of the country last March 26, signifying the start of the dry season.
